List Of Victoria Secret Models. All Of Your Favourite Victoria’s Secret Models

No other industry event has the same pull as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Every year, the global lingerie giant brings some of the biggest names in fashion, showbiz, art, and music together for a huge runway celebration. The stars of the show? The Victoria’s Secret Angels, of course.

Decked out in the season’s newest styles, expensive fantasy bras, and larger-than-life wings, the VS models sure know how to put on a show. Unfortunately, . But don’t worry, we’ll give you your Victoria’s Secret fix – here’s a list of our 12 favourite Victoria’s Secret Angels.

Victoria’s Secret

Victoria’s Secret is known as one of the top lingerie, womenswear, and beauty brands in the world. The company was established in 1977 as a reaction to the dismal options for women’s lingerie at the time – ugly robes, boring nighties, and straight-up frumpy designs. Victoria’s Secret changed the lingerie market by providing undies that were sexy, comfortable, and luxurious.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was first held and broadcast on prime time TV in 1995. It became a huge success, attracting both male and female viewers. It became a mainstay in the fashion world, growing bigger every year – the first show had a budget of $USD 120,000 ($AUD 176,000); its budget in 2011 was more than $USD 12-million ($AUD 17.6-million).

The Angels

In the early ‘90s, around the same time that the concept of ‘supermodels’ was rising in popularity, Victoria’s Secret hired famous names like Yasmeen Ghauri and Jill Goodacre to become brand ambassadors for their lingerie. Later, in 1998, the company featured top models Helena Christensen, Tyra Banks, and a few others in a commercial. VS called these women “Angels” after one of their product lines. They walked, for the first time, at the 4th annual fashion show.

The Angel lineup continues to change, with older models dropping off and younger ones coming to take their place. VS has boosted the careers of many women, such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Miranda Kerr, and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Models Versus Angel

Although you might think that all Victoria’s Secret models are Angels, there’s actually a very clear distinction between the two. A VS model is anyone who walks the runway or does a campaign for the brand. But out of the dozens of women who walk the annual fashion show, only a handful of them are part of the ‘exclusive’ group of brand ambassadors called the Angels.

Beyond the fashion show, Angels have other contractual obligations, such as talk shows, appearances, and more. Plus, Angels are expected to maintain certain measurements through strict diets and intense workouts, especially since their work often has them in the nude or almost naked.

Despite recent attempts to be more inclusive (like hiring their first openly transgender model just last month), most Victoria’s Secret models have the same look – tall, beautiful, and skinny. Maintaining that model figure is a must if an Angel wants to keep her contract.

With the additional expectations comes additional fame and additional pay – most of the highest paid models in the world are or were Victoria’s Secret Angels.

The Angels are also the only models on the VS runway who can be chosen to wear the Fantasy Bra, a multi-million dollar bejewelled bra that’s the crown jewel (literally) of the VS Fashion Show. Getting to wear the Fantasy Bra is a huge honour for any Angel.

After its inception in 1995, the yearly Victoria's Secret Fashion Show , in which models paraded down a catwalk in the brand's avant-garde lingerie , quickly transformed into one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. The annual runway spectacular — which included musical performances by the year's hottest acts, from Phil Collins and Destiny's Child to Bruno Mars and The Weeknd — was infamously discontinued in 2019 after the company found itself in a slew of controversies. Now, Hulu's three-part docuseries "Victoria's Secret: Angels and Demons" digs deep into the rise and eventual fall from grace of the legendary lingerie behemoth due to its decidedly consistent lack of diversity, its promotion of unattainable beauty standards, and CEO Les Wexner's sketchy ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite its many, many pitfalls, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (VSFS) put lots of models on the map. Some models walked shows here and there, but others signed contracts with the brand, making them official Victoria's Secret "Angels." Many VS models have gone on to become some of the biggest names in fashion.

As viewers watch Victoria's Secret's decade-spanning history unfold on Hulu, you may be wondering how the top former VS models feel about the brand in 2022. While most have stayed mum on the brand's many controversies, others have stood up and acknowledged that it was, indeed, time for a reckoning. But some have even come out in defence of the show. Here, we take a look back at all the high-profile models who frequented the runway through the years and explore where they are now and what, if anything, they have to say about Victoria's Secret's legacy.

TheFashion Show is back. After taking a four-year, the lingerie catwalk extravaganza – which always featured big model names such as Adriana Lima, Gisele Bündchen, Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, the top-ranking of which were famously named 'Angels' – is returning.

Victoria's Secret CFO Timothy Johnson confirmed in a: “We’re going to continue to lean into the marketing spend to invest in the business and also to support the new version of our fashion show, which is to come later this year.”

Johnson also hinted at the show's focus – and that it might be a departure from the superficial glitter and glam of its former guise – saying that it will “reinforce our commitment to championing women’s voices and their unique perspectives”.

The annual show was previously cancelled in 2019 after a decline in sales and poor television ratings, with figures falling from. The brand was also mired in controversy, after the former CEO Les Wexner's close links with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light.

There had also long been concerns over the show's lack of diversity and inclusivity, particularly when compared to Rihanna's Savage X Fenty shows, the first one of which debuted in 2018 and featured models of all sizes, as well as queer, trans and non-binary casting.

The retail giant attempted to, launching the Victoria's Secret Collective and replacing the Angels with ambassadors who were brought on board to inspire change and positivity, and who were not chosen for their looks alone – described as "an ever-growing group of accomplished women who share a common passion to drive positive change". The brand also launched a number of new charitable partnerships with the aim of supporting the lives of women all over the world.

Users took to Twitter to share their feelings about the return of the VS Fashion Show: "I'll reserve my outrage until we see if they actually have become inclusive or all this just merely performative," one wrote.

Another user wrote: "Glad it’s coming back but doubt it will be as glamorous."

Singer Lizzo – who recently launched her own inclusive shapewear line,– also took to social media to address the news.

Victoria's Secret history. Marketing Strategy

Victoria's Secret is a specialty retailer of women's intimate apparel. It has about 1,000 Victoria's Secret lingerie stores and 100 independent Victoria's Secret Beauty Stores in the US, mostly in shopping centres. It sells brassieres, panties, hosiery, cosmetics, sleepwear, and more. Victoria's Secret mails more than 400 million of its catalogs per year.Under pressure from environmentalist groups, Victoria's Secret's parent firm and a conservation group have reached an agreement to make the lingerie retailer's catalog more environmentally friendly in 2006. The catalogue will no longer be made of pulp supplied from any woodland caribou habitat range in Canada, unless it has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The catalogs will also be made of 10 percent recycled paper from post-consumer waste.

Victoria's Secret is now building its image with a fairly conservative, middle-class shopper in mind and avoided any connotations of sleaziness which lingerie might carry.

The company gained notoriety in the early 1990s after it began to use supermodels in its advertising and fashion shows. Throughout the past decade, it refused to follow the celebrity trend, turning down at least one celebrity a month begging to model the brand.

Victoria's Secret makes use of a rigorous customer service model, stressing upselling, frequent staff attention, and signing customers up for a credit card called "the angel card". This credit card has a standard interest rate of 22.8 percent Employees are given working hours based on how many applications they attempt to process per hour, whether the attempt is successful or not is not considered.

Maria Inés Rivero, Daniela Pestova, Adriana Lima, Laetitia Casta, Heidi Klum , Rebecca Romijn, and Tyra Banks are among the "Angels" from the original promotion. In May 2007, the Victoria's Secret Angels which includes Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum , Selita Ebanks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Izabel Goulart and Karolina Kurkova were chosen to be part of People Magazine's annual "100 Most Beautiful People in the World".The 'Angels' are among the world's best-paid models.

On November 13, 2007, Victoria's Secret Angels became the first trademark awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
